So we’ve finally go the paperwork back from the lawyer and the state and the LLC is formed. This is a big step for us as we can now officially do business as VirtualSmith, LLC. We have a lot planned for the upcoming weeks including an updated website, new services being offered and partnerships being formed with a lot of the companies that we’ll do business with. This includes VirtualIron, Cisco, Neoware and VMWare to name a few. Some the newest services that we will be debuting are:
- Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) - Remotely hosted and installed on site
- Network security audits - These include server, perimeter, internal and physical checks
- Virtualization jump start packages - Quick setup and training of virtual environments (for those companies who want to get into the virtualization game)
These are just some of the new services that we at VirtualSmith are excited to offer you and your organizations. Stay tuned for more information about all of these new ideas and more in the coming weeks.

I have gone through the process of starting up companies before and I don’t remember there being so much work. There’s choosing the type of business you need (which Entrepreneur.com helped with very much), trademarks, tax IDs and the ever so annoying balancing of the checkbook. But for us, that’s part of the growing pains. We need to make sure that we have all of our ducks in a row before we set out to sell, sell, sell.
One thing that we did not think about in the beginning was how we should go about organizing the inside structure of the business… Do you have a CEO, a president or just a bunch of lackeys? Do those people who help you start the company get paid in salaries or bonuses? Who breaks a decision when there is a tie? These are all questions that come up as your forming a new organization, whether it be a small 2-man operation or a world-wide conglomerate. As I searched the Internet, I couldn’t find much information on helping you design your organization. There we plenty of org chart sites but nothing that I found that easily explained the structure of the business and the pluses and minuses to each decision made. Lucky for us, we’re past that step but those were not the easiest decisions to make. This is a heads-up to all — make sure you think about these things early on. You would not want to get completely engulfed in the business and then find out you had no structure. It could go down hill real fast.
That’s all for now, back to work for me.
